Samurai Pie?

Big Brother has a healthy addiction to the Backyardigans, that annoying cheerful theme song can be heard around the house on any given day. A couple of weeks ago Dad and Big Brother were snuggled up on the couch watching an episode where apparently the Backyardigans were making pie and acting out a Samurai life. How the two go together, don’t ask me, I didn’t even see it.

On the weekend of Little Buddy’s birthday party my parents spent the night at our house and for dessert we served them pie. My husband loves pie, almost any flavour of pie and sadly enough, I don’t. So poor Hubster rarely gets his pie fix and was glad to have the company to help him eat it.
He offered Big Brother a piece and being the pickiest of all picky eaters, Big Brother declined. Yes, he even turns up his nose at desserts occasionally, he’s that picky!
Dad tries to tempt him to try a piece, half because he is encouraging him to at least try something new and the other half is because if he can get even one other person in the house to like pie than he might get it more often.
Dad tells Big Brother that it is Samurai Pie!
Big Brother is curious…Samurai Pie??
‘Yeah, like on the Backyardigans, remember they were making Samurai Pie?’
Big Brother likes this, checks it out, but still refuses to try it.

The next day there are leftovers to eat up and pie is offered to Big Brother again
Big Brother asks ‘is it Samurai Pie?’
lol we have a laugh, but he doesn’t try it and we hear no mention of it again.

This past weekend I’m looking through some travel brochures and there’s an ad about a museum hosting an exhibit on the Chinese Warriors. Big Brother is intrigued by the picture and comes over for a closer look. What’s that? he asks. I tell him it’s a Chinese Warrior. He stares at the picture in thought for a few seconds and then asks ‘Do you think he likes pie?’  LOL it was so cute and funny! I exchanged a look with the Hubster over his head and simply said ‘yup, I think he likes pie’. lol
