Rise of the Guardians, now on DVD and Blu-ray

Just in time for Easter, Dreamworks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians is available on DVD and Blu-ray!

rotg boyAlready big fans of Dreamworks How to Train Your Dragon, the Hubs and I were super excited for the Rise of the Guardians and it did not disappoint! As fate would have it we ended up watching the movie separately, him on an airplane headed for England, me in the basement after the kids had gone to sleep! We both knew we had wanted to catch this one sans kids first because of it’s ‘sensitive’ nature and I’m glad we did. We both decided that while we adored the movie, we are going to wait to let the kids ages 3,4 and 7 view it. It is rated PG afterall.

We were spoiled rotten though, we had a lovely Rise of the Guradians themed gift bag arrive filled with all kinds of fun Easter goodies! While the boys will wait to watch the flick, they certainly had a good time nibbling on chocolates, trying on bunny ears and sporting tattoos, just like Santa in the movie! A night light and some fun walking Easter Eggs are being tucked away for an Easter surprise!

Synopsis:

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS is an epic & magical adventure that tells the story of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, and Jack Frost – legendary characters with previously unknown extraordinary abilities. When an evil spirit known as Pitch (the boogie man) lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children everywhere.

The word ‘epic’ gets tossed around pretty easily these days, but that was exactly the word I muttered when the movie ended. It was truly brilliant! A movie about just one of these characters would have been amazing, but all 5 of them in one film, rising together to protect children everywhere, now that is monumental. The movie was so well done! My favourite scene was when the Guardians were racing each other to help the Tooth Fairy to collect all the teeth of the children before morning, the competitive and comical adventure will have you laughing!  If you have kids that are ready for this type of movie, it is a must see movie for Easter weekend this year! But you’ll want to buy a copy, instead of renting, because this is one you’ll want to watch over and over again!
