Head to the Beach in Massachusetts! #XploreMass

I have a family of beach bums! There’s nothing we like better than a day at the beach, soaking up the warm sun and building sandcastles all day long! Unfortunatly, we just don’t live that close to the beach and Canadian weather doesn’t call for very many beach days each year. Looking out my window at the grey skies over us today, I am day dreaming of a beach destination and have my sights set on Massachusetts.

Massachusetts is only a 8-9 hour drive from the GTA and has almost 1,500 miles of coastline! I’ve been doing a little research on the area beaches lately!

The Boston area has over 10 beaches plus the Boston Harbour Islands, but it was the lure of Cape Code that had me most intriqued.

Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket are all surrounded by beautiful scenic beaches. There are beaches on the bay and ocean sides of the islands, salt ponds, freshwater and kettle ponds. Bayside beaches are typically much calmer than oceanside, making them perfect destinations for families with children.

While our family loves a great adventure exploring new cities and attractions, we all agree that there is nothing like a day on the beach. The kids love to have picnics in the sand, dad loves to build sandcastles with the boys and mom loves to sneek in a minute or two with a magazine. If the waves cooperate we all have some good fun on a body board!

The pictures I’ve seen of Cape Cod remind me of the quaintness and charm of some of the Eastern Canada provinces we’ve traveled to. It looks like a great way to spend the day, playing on the beach, taking in a clam bake and even heading out for some whale watching in Provincetown!

My husband is going to Massachussetts next month because he’s a groomsmen in a wedding there. (The groom is from our area but the bride from there). I opted not to go because of the cost (we live on the west coast) but one day I’l visit the beaches there!

Gorgeous! I would love to go! A message for all you girls never not go because of the cost, I learned that the hard way, I use to save and say I can’t afford it and now I CAN’T GO and I live with a lot of regret, always seize the opportunity!

    Looks so inviting

  4. Amazing! I absolutely love Massachusetts! It’s such a beautiful State. Okay, the real reason I’ve been visiting that U.S. State since I was a teen is because I was in love with NKOTB and thought I’d eventually bump into Jordan and Joe ifI hung out there enough! LOL! No joke!

  5. Oh my! Those photos are incredible. I want to go!
Love Mass. but have never been to a beach there. Another item for my ‘must see’ list.

  6. Neat. I’ve never been to Mass. before. The beaches look beautiful.

  7. My absolute most favourite place to be is on a beach by the ocean 🙂 I try to go on vacation somewhere on the coast every year. We’ve been to PEI & Nova Scotia multiple times, and this past spring we went to South Carolina and we’re going to Cape Breton in the fall. AND, just last weekend my cousin asked if I’d be interested in going to Cape Cod ext summer. Yep, count me in!

Enjoy your time at the beach wherever and whenever it may be 🙂

the Cape Cod really reminded me of those Eastern provinces, like Nova Scotia and PEI, we loved our travels there! So jealous that you are headed that way next year! We loved our time in Florida this year so we will be looking for another sandy beach vacation soon!

  8. Such beautiful beaches! We have some here in Ottawa but nothing compares to these ones! Thanks for sharing some info on them, maybe one day take a family trip to Cape Cod! 🙂

  9. Those are some gorgeous beaches. I would love to go on the whale watching.
