My heart sunk last week when I heard that the Bowmanville Zoo had lost a long standing member of their zoo family. Limba the Asian Elephant was a sweet and gentle old girl at the age of 50 and our family was lucky enough to spend some time getting to know her personally last summer. My family adored Limba and we were so sad to hear that we wouldn’t be seeing her again during the performance of The Animal’s Gift. With heavy hearts we made our way to Bowmanville on the weekend to get a sneak peek of the animal performances that would be part of the production. I was touched to see that the performance started with a sweet slide tribute celebrating Limba’s life at the zoo. I overheard a number of staff speaking to eachother about how devastated they were about Limba’s passing. It was clear that Limba was well loved throughout the zoo community and beyond.
The Bowmanville Zoo is pleased to announce that The Animal’s Gift returns for 2013.

I just love zoos! They are so much fun and I love how creative the artists are
Sounds like a fun outing with the kids!
I haven’t been to a zoo since I was a little girl – my boys and I would love the performance I am sure. So sad about Limba – Elephants are my favorite
