Organize your life with the Brother Label Maker

It’s the first day of school and walking in from the bus stop I stop dead in my tracks. My house literally looks like a tornado blew threw it! Camping gear from the long weekend, blankets, shoes, toys….everything strewn about. I knew if I am going to stay sane during the busy months of school I am going to have to get organized! Clutter tackled first and then I pulled out the handy dandy label maker and really got down and dirty with some heavy duty organizing! Plus, making labels is just really fun!!

I have a number of bins in my spare room closet, they are all the same colour and shape which makes for easy stacking. The downside is, I never know what is in each one! I have to pull each one down to peek inside and it’s a bit of a game to find the right one. Being new to making my own labels, I decided to fix this problem first.

Three of my bins hold Christmas decorations, one has birthday party decorations and the last one has random holiday celebration stuff. I made a unique label for each bin, so the guessing game is over! I am not exactly a techie so I was a bit nervous pulling the label maker out of the box, and crossed my fingers that it wasn’t something I was going to have to hand over to my husband to figure out. I wanted all the fun to myself! Thankfully, the PT-D600 from Brother Canada is very easy to set up and I had my first label in my hand in just minutes!

So you can see how this would make an ideal label maker for office use, it has the ability to make barcodes and can save 99 label designs afterall!! But it’s also a handy little tool for home use too! I had so much fun playing around with the fonts, frames, styles and symbols to personalize our storage bins and I can’t wait to tackle the rest of the house! This is going to be perfect for organizing our pantry, office, the kids school supplies and the package even came with iron on labels as well. When the boys are a little older and get into school projects, I can see this being put to good use there as well!

The AC power adapter and USB cable comes included (battery power is an option as well) and you’ll be able to download and install printer drivers and software from the Brother website. The PT-D600 works with 5 different TZe tape widths – and the convenient, top-loading tape design lets you easily change tape cassette sizes and colors. I loved the way the machine neatly cuts your label once it’s printed! Standard TZe tapes are durable and laminated, so they withstand water, heat and fading. You’ll be able to watch your label come to life on the display screen and preview everything before you print. The PT-D600 is the first P-touch Label Maker to feature a full-color graphic backlit display that updates in real time as you type and format, and it even automatically detects the colour of the tape you have installed.
