Vehicles have come to Skylanders!

If you have a young boy, you know Skylanders, you just do. On the lips of every boy in town is the world of Skylands even if you don’t own the game – yet! We had Skylanders paraphernalia in the house well before we ever owned Trap Team. But now Activision has taken the Toys to Life concept to a whole new level by introducing ‘vehicles to life’ with the brand new Superchargers!

Skylands is in peril! Kaos (he’s the bad guy!) has unleashed his most evil weapon yet — the Doom Station of Ultimate Doomstruction. All of Skylands stands on the verge of collapse, and a special team, called the SuperChargers, has been assembled to pilot an unstoppable fleet of incredible vehicles. Now you and the SuperChargers must pilot these powerful vehicles over land, under sea, and through the sky to stop Kaos and save Skylands!

For our PS3 edition our pack included Super Shot Stealth Elf and Spitfire with the land vehicle Hot Streak. There are 20 Skylanders and 20 vehicles to collect, but you can also use all your previous Skylanders with this game as well which is awesome! The game can be played with 1 or 2 players, and when the players are in the vehicle the game shifts into co op play where they share the responsibilities; one player controlling the steering wheel and the other controlling the weapons. Teaming up is actually a lot of fun! The game isn’t only played in vehicles though, you’ll still find foot action, combat , puzzles and mini games.

The portal is larger than others, to accommodate the vehicles and while you can use any skylander, matching the right character with his vehicle is where the real  super charge comes in to action! It will be a big help when navigating the game, but feel free to mix and match. You’ll also be able to upgrade your ride throughout the levels of the game.The vehicles are really cool and having moving wheels, making it a toy you can use with or without the game. 

When starting the game you’ll be able to choose from Beginner, Adventurer, Expert and even Nightmare for your play style. I would start at beginner if you are new to Skylanders, but it you’re a total master at the other skylanders editions jump right in at Adventurer. You can play the whole game using the starter pack, but be warned, you’ll be locked out of any play requiring a sea or air vehicle and it won’t be long before your kiddos (and maybe even you!) will start wanting the other vehicle types! Land is awesome but who wouldn’t want to drive through the sea and air! Parents, this is a really fun one to play with the kids!

Right out of the box, the game also features an all-new Racing Mode that blends high-octane, supercharged racing with combat, accentuated by power-ups, boosts, hazards and more. Players can also purchase Racing Action Packs that unlock additional content.
