The Christmas holidays are creeping closer and closer and while I know my boys have one thing on their mind – PRESENTS, for me it’s something else entirely. Mom’s tend to know that the real magic of Christmas is that sigh….. at the end. When the shopping list is completely scratched off and the baking is complete and decorations are hung. Sigh….Now the holidays can start, because we get to slooooooow down and take it all in. We can smile each day as the kids open the remaining doors of their advent calendars, enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace and huddle around the table for a board game with the family. The kids may not know it yet, but taking those days to bond together as a family, that’s the magic for moms.
Indigo has everything you need this season for making holiday shopping one stop easy for everyone on your list plus cozy extras for when that sigh….hits!
Think Fisher Price Classics and LEGO for the kids, Kobos and GoPros for the hubby and then pick out some nice thick reading socks and a faux fur throw so you can declare family game night a go!
Make it Magical
Nothing builds anticipation over the holidays like an advent calendar. Kids get a fun little suprise every day and hopefully it stops with the “how many more days until Christmas?” whine. This is actually our first year doing the advents with the boys and I’m not sure who’s more excited, us or them?
Indigo has three different LEGO Advent Calendars available, LEGO City, LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Friends. Knowing that the Star Wars movie is coming out soon, we opted for the Star Wars calendar this year. The calendar is geared for ages 6-14 which is a nice wide range and contains 282 pieces to open over the month of December. There are 24 different doors to open along with a fun play scene to set up all your new pieces to display. Expect characters, vehicles, starships and more, I already know the snow wookie is going to be a favourite!
Add Some Mystery to the Magic
One search at Chapers Indigo for games of Clue, might leave you a bit surprised by all of the options! Choose from the Classic Clue version, Star Wars, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Games of Thrones or if you are a boymom like me, Harry Potter.
CLUE®: Harry Potter™ A fellow student has seemingly vanished from the famous School of Witchcraft and Wizardry – and it is up to you to solve the mysterious disappearance. Playing as Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna or Neville, you must try and discover WHO did it, WHAT spell or item they used and WHERE the student was attacked. Move around Hogwarts making suggestions…but watch out! Wheels on the board will keep changing revealing secret passages, moving staircases or even the Dark Mark! Protection from the Dark Mark comes from the spells, allies and items provided by the Help Cards. When you’re sure of your facts go to Dumbledore’s office to make your accusation and win the game!
We are a family full of Harry Potter fans, including our extended family that will be visiting over the holidays so it will be really fun to sit down and play this one all together. The game is for ages 9 and up and I’m super happy to see that it can be played with 3-5 players. So many games cap at 4 and as a family of 5 I’m always on the look out for games that the whole family can play together.
Be sure to pop over to the Chapters Indigo website where you’ll find these and many more items to make your own holiday just as magical. Ordering is quick and easy and shipping is free on orders over $25. Follow Chapters Indigo on Facebook or Tweet with them at @ChaptersIndigo, got a question? Use hashtag #AskIndigo for the answer!
