Tips to help fight the winter blues

So the holidays after over and now we are just sort of stuck in the middle of winter, anyone else got a case of the winter blues? I actually don’t mind winter, I love taking the boys toboganning and skating and playing in the snow with the pup, but right now you can’t even do any of that. Our backyard is covered in ice, I fell on my butt this morning on our driveway and the warmer temps is just creating muddy snowsuits to wash. Bleh. Winter can be a little bit bleh, but here are a few tips to make it through!

  1. Sit & soak

Take some time to de-stress and focus on relaxing with a candle-lit bubble bath. Add your favourite essential oil to your bath water and play spa-inspiring music in the background to help you enter a total state of Zen. I know, I know, this is easier said than done as a mom. Try this one after the kids are in bed.

  1. Give your body a boost with a healthy beverage

Keep your immune system protected and your body energized by drinking hot lemon water in the morning for a calming start to your day. Consider a healthy smoothie with extra fruits and veggies for a lunch-time boost! Lemon water and smoothies are two of my personal favourites!

  1. Keep your smile fresh and white

  1. Thank your skin this winter

  1. Go to a yoga class

Getting in a good workout is a great way to jump-start your week. Take five from your day, grab a girlfriend and focus on your mind, body and spirit at a local yoga class. You’ll cut out the stress, stretch out dormant muscles and leave feeling rejuvenated to face the rest of the season!

I do like the idea of sit & soak, I’ve done that often with a book in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other, pure bliss 🙂
