The 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang has just came to an end this past weekend. Was your family glued to the t.v. each evening like ours was? From Slopestyle to Big Air the boys were fascinated by some of the extreme snowboarding sports and of course Canadian favourites like Curling and Hockey took up a lot of our screen time as well. Each morning we went over the medal standings from the night before and we couldn’t have been prouder when Team Canada finished off the event with 29 medals!
The new Playmobil Winter Sports Collection is the perfect way to recreate some of your favourite Olympic moments!
The full Winter Sport theme contains 7 different sets including a Female Biathlete, Skier, a tobogganer on a tube and even a full snowball fight scene complete with a snow fort! The other three sets we had the pleasure of building this weekend and include a snowmobile with rider, a winter SUV with roof rack for the skis and the huge 146 piece ski lodge set, because of course you’re going to need to warm up and eat after a day on the slopes!
The boys were really excited about the new collection and set right to work. Each of the boys picked a box to build and then they all came together to create one large scene. I love the way all the pieces go so perfectly together and really create the atmosphere of a working ski village.
The Ski Lodge ($89.99) is by far the biggest and most impressive set for the collection and really makes all the playsets come together. It features realistic details like rooftop icicles, working shutters and door and comes with all the accessories you’ll need to make the play come to life including cutlery, firewood and mittens.
Playmobil guests can start their morning with a cup of hot coffee and after a day on the trails, they will be sure to warm up by the roaring fireplace inside the lodge. Mid day they can pop their skis on the rack and order fries for lunch on the lodge patio.
I love that the roof can easily come off for easier access to the upper floor where overnight guests can crawl into real sleeping bags for a rest and use the potty! You just know the boys had a laugh over the potty!
The Snowmobile set ($14.99) comes with a cool rider that has all the accessories like goggles and gloves and the snowmobile itself features flexible runners and storage for your snow gear in the front compartment. My youngest especially was really into this set.
To get to the lodge you’ll want some sturdy wheels like the Winter SUV ($29.99). The roof of the SUV is removable to seat your figures inside and there’s plenty of room in the back for your luggage that comes included. On top, the SUV is complete with a roof rack and box to transport your skiing and snowboarding equipment. This set comes with two figures, skis, snowboard, mittens etc.
What I love about Playmobil is all the attention to detail and realistic accessories that come with each set. It’s winter, so of course the figures come with winter mitts, because brrrr…. who wants to build a snowman with bare hands?
Each set of the Playmobil Winter Sports Collection is fun on it’s own, but the magic really happens when you can build on the scene with other sets from the collection or ones you might already own like the NHL collection or pieces from the Christmas advent calendar. Wouldn’t it be amazing to spot a reindeer from the lodge window?
My favourite is how very detailed they are, everything is right on and it’s amazing how well they made these sets!!

I love all the details in the set. The typical lodge decorations like the fireplace are cute. I think the kids would love the ladder to the loft and all the people complete with skis, vehicles and accessories. It is nice the roof comes off so the kids can look into the lodge loft.
