Back to School Shopping with Thermos

Back-to-school shopping is right around the corner, and whether that stirs of feelings of happiness or disappointment, the task still needs to get done. I don’t stress too much over back to school shopping, our school doesn’t ask for much and the boys don’t need new everything each year. The one thing that they do always need though is lunch supplies, those lunch bags can get pretty darn gross over the course of the school and there is no way we are going to be using them again. ewwww….

Thermos Brand has always been a go-to for lunch bags and containers, even when I was a student myself. The have all the functional pieces to keep noodles hot and drinks cold, plus super creative bags to hold it all in.

This school year, we are checking out some awesome new Star Wars and Superman vs. Batman gear!

The 355ml FUNtainer Bottles are a staple in our house. The boys each keep one at their desk throughout the year and we love these because not only do they come in all kinds of awesome designs like Superman, Star Wars, Angry Birds, and Captain America but they are stainless steel, have a flip top no spill lid and are easy to clean. The FUNtainers are just for cold liquid and are double wall vacuum insulated to keep drinks cold for up to 12 hours. I like that the straw stays safely tucked inside the lid to keep it germ free when not in use. Every little bit helps in the germ factory we call school!

My middle guy is going into grade three this year and has been using the same FUNtainer food jar since Junior Kindergarten! It still works great, but some of the Cars print is rubbing off of the outside so we upgraded him to this C3-PO one this year. This container is also stainless steel and works for both hot and cold items. It has a nice wide opening to fill, eat from and clean! We are long time fans!

The great thing about Thermos Brand lunch bags is they are very very creative. We have an R2-D2 one from last year that actually lights up and talks and this Superman vs. Batman one is reversible, even the cape changes colour depending on the direction you put it. The down side is they aren’t always practicle and this is one of those times for us. My boys have a ‘balanced lunch day’ at their school, meaning they have two lunch breaks instead of one, so they need a pretty big bag to hold all their food. This bag is a fun one to bring to the park for snacks but not nearly big enough for a lunch. The bottom has a separate compartment at the bottom for drinks, which is nice because they tend to be heavier and now won’t crush other items. That said, the top part is small and the zipper is on the side making it a bit awkard to fill. Still, like I mentioned, it would work fine for a trip to the play ground or water park.
