I was honoured and delighted to have the opportunity to make my buddy Nicholas his 8th Birthday cake! The Birthday Boy is a Star Wars fan, and so a Star Wars birthday cake he must get!
Here’s a couple of shots of the cake~
I started with a regular two layer boxed cake mix, stacked and filled the centre with buttercream icing. I tinted the outer buttercream icing black using gel food colouring and used some mint extract, because I know Nick likes mint. The lettering and white circles are completed using white fondant and small fondant alphabet cutters similar to cookie cutters. There are silver balls around the circles and tiny yellow stars to decorate the galaxy. To tidy up the edges I piped on red buttercream along the bottom edge.
I hear he had a super fun swimming party and sleep over at a local hotel and I was glad to help make his birthday special by making him his cake.
