Most schools now a days have adopted a peanut free environment and even a full nut free environment. This is the first Fall that I’ve sent one of my babies off to school, so it’s all new for us. I still can’t believe I have a school ager!
Big Brother’s school has 2 ‘nutritional’ breaks, one around 11am and one around 1pm. Personally I’m not a fan and I’m finding it hard to pack his food. Plus he’s really picky!
Luckily President’s Choice is helping out a newbie lunch packer like me and sent me a P.C. fabric grocery bag full of Peanut-free snack ideas.
We tried a few pre-packaged snack packs like the fruity Zoo Animals, Blue Menu Wheat Bran Bites, P.C. Mini Chef Honey Crunchy Cubs and Crispy Rice Marshmellow Squares. These all come in individual servings and I like that because I don’t have to worry about finding a container and making sure it returns home. Each package is marked with the peanut free logo.We were also sent a few treats like No Name Jujubes and Jellybeans. Sometimes something as small as opening your lunch and finding a hidden treasure like one or two jellybeans among your cheese and crackers can really put a smile on a little’s face in the middle of a long day.
Our favourite find was the PC Mini Dipped & Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars. They are about half of the size of a regular bar and just the right size for tucking in a lunchbox for a snack. They are individually wrapped and are easy to not only toss in the lunchbox, but also your diaper bag or purse as well.Hopefully practice makes perfect because I have a long road of packing lunches ahead of me.
