My oldest son is in grade one this year and has his first real ‘Best Friend’. It started about half way through the year, that we would hear his name pop up at dinner conversations or before bed chit chat, and soon it became part of our every conversation. Seriously, I felt like I had a fourth son! We got to know this boy pretty well, though we’d never met him.
“I like playing in the rain, Friend likes playing in the rain too”
“Friends dad has an earring in his MOUTH!”
“Friends favourite colour is blue, my favourite colour is blue too”
This year my big guy requested a real birthday party with friends from school. We usually have family parties at his Grandparents house, so this was a big deal to him and we agreed. He picked out the friends he wanted to invite, Best Friend being on the top of the list and started to party plan!
“We need to have music, Friend loves Gangham Style, we HAVE to play Gangham Style”
“Can we have a Base? Friend has a Base!” umm…what’s a base? “a bass guitar”
Okay, let’s just stop right here. Who’s party is this? We had a long talk about how it’s so awesome to have special friends but that he’s pretty special too! This was his birthday party, a day to celebrate him and the party should be about him and not his BFF. When his friend has his own party, they can play in the rain with base guitars and dance to Gangham Style on that day! lol
Every kid is special and unique in their own way. My big guy is a LEGO mastermind, there is nothing that makes him happier than a tub of LEGO. He wears glasses, he’s adorable, he’s kind and gets scared of loud noises. He’s a picky eater, a fast runner and loves to ride his bike. That’s my boy!
So for Big Brother’s birthday, the kids played in the backyard, created LEGO cars in the basement and ate a sugar-coma inducing cake! And since there is never such a thing as too much chocolate, we sent the kids home with some Kinder Surprise Eggs in their loot buckets!
Kinder Canada also has brand new PINK eggs!
Check out the new Pink toys on the Kinder Canada FB Page!

Oh how I wish I was a Kinder Mom!! What an awesome birthday idea!
Oh my gosh! I LOVE your birthday loot bags! I seriously want to go to one of your parties!! You’re so creative!
Great contest too, btw! Love being a #KinderMom
I love the lootbags you created for your son’s birthday! It’s great that your son has a best friend, but that was wise of you to explain that it was your son’s birthday party, not his friend’s.
Those are great loot bags! Kinder surprises are a favourite treat in our house! My kids love opening the egg and discovering the magic inside. My boys are not afraid to choose the pink ones as they love the toys in the girl eggs as well! lol
I love putting Kinder Eggs into Loot bags – they are so much fun!
they are a treat and a toy in one so it’s awesome, plus they take up a fair bit of room 😉 lol
