When I first saw the trailers come out for the movie Guilt Trip, I knew I wanted to check it out. I love the hysterical Seth Rogen and pairing him up with legend Barbra Streisand seemed like such an odd, but delightful mix! I couldn’t wait to see what these two would come out with!
As inventor Andy Brewster (Rogen) is about to embark on a road trip to sell his latest product, he feels compelled to invite his mother, Joyce (Streisand), along for the ride. Across 3,000 miles of adventure and antics both Andy and Joyce discover that while they have their differences, they also have more in common than they ever realized.
So this is kind of my fear, raising all boys. They grow up to be men, and men don’t want to spend time with their mothers like daughters do. There won’t be any spa days or girls shopping weekends, I’ll be lucky if they come and visit every once in a while. So I watched with interest as the mother-son relationship unfolded between the two main characters. Hubs and I shared a few good laughs, remembering his own mom who has passed away as Streisand’s character did a few funny things that reminded me of her. I thought there might be more funny moments in this movie, but honestly, it didn’t really need it. It was a really sweet movie and definitely had us laughing.

Yes, my mother and I drove across most of Canada (and part of the US) together when I moved from Montreal to Vancouver. She passed away since, and though I was not initially too excited about the trip, it is now one of my best memories of her and we had a really nice trip.
I would love a road trip with my Mom! As kids (5 kids in my family) we drove everywhere (because who could afford 7 flights on one income) including BC from Ontario two times, Florida two times, all over Ontario (many times), Nashville and many others.
