Are you ready for some Foooootball??
If you’ve got football fans in the house, these fun Football Cupcakes are sure to be a hit! Whether it’s to celebrate a birthday, the big game or just for fun, Football Cupcakes will bring a smile to anyone’s face, big or small!
They are super easy to make and would sell like hot cakes on a bake sale table for class fundraisers as well.
Football Cupcakes
You’ll Need
Cupcakes
White and Brown icing – You can either make buttercream icing and tint some brown or buy both chocolate and white icing
Brown food colouring (if using buttercream)
Piping bag and Writing tip
Putting Them Together
You can use any flavour of cupcake you like, I made rainbow chip for these ones from a boxed cake mix. For cupcake liners I choose a plain green as well as a black with green dots because I had them on hand and thought they went well. If you found some football themed wrappers that would be great too!
Tint your buttercream icing brown. Using a spatula spread the icing all over the top of the cupcake like you normally would, but spread long on opposite ends so it starts to resemble a football shape. This can take a bit of playing with the get the icing to sit right.
TIP: To smooth icing, wet a paper towel and wring out any excess water. Place the damp paper towel on top of the icing and lightly smooth it out with our fingertips. Pull of the paper towel, you may see some pattern go onto the icing from your paper towel, I actually left them because I thought they looked similar to the texture of a real ball!
Prepare the piping bag and tip with the white icing. Pipe a long line down the middle of the football going back and forth a couple of times so it’s slightly wider than the horizontal lines will be. Then pipe the shorter horizontal lines in rows on top.
Now that’s you’ve really impressed your kids, tell them a corny football joke, to earn your un-coolness factor back! lol
