Last week, I shared with you in a blog post a new initiative from Multi-Grain Cheerios that has parents signing a petition to stop harmful messaging to kids about their bodies. While most people equate body image struggles to girls, I wanted to share and explore the topic from a boy's perspective. It's true that girls are bombarded with images and messages portrayed in the media to be thinner and prettier, but boys are also blasted with similar messages as well. And … [Read more...]

What do little boys want to be when they grow up? – Boymoms share!
When I was little my male classmates answered the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" with answers like fireman and policeman, maybe even a doctor, but usually a community helper of some sort. Being Canadian kids, hockey players or other sports heros were popular choices too. Boys who were super creative answered with fantasies like super hero! Now that I am a mom to three boys, I hear them talk about what they want to be when they get older and I'm a little bit … [Read more...]
Brothers make the best of friends

So I tucked him back under his covers and crawled in behind him. "Mommy, I'm so in love with you", whispers a little voice in the dark. I can't help but laugh at his choice of words, 'in love' "I love you too buddy" I answer "Cause you'll always be in my heart" He responds This is a phrase … [Read more...]
Wait, Milk Chocolate Boobies?
Last night just after dinner, a knock came to the door. It was the neighbours who had planned to be out of town on Halloween night and didn't want our kids to miss out on a treat. Sweet right? She gave each of our boys a small bag of candy and headed on her way. The boys eagerly took their bags to the table and we let them choose two pieces of candy to have for dessert. My middle guy chooses a Halloween snack size Areo bar, the kind with just two bubbles. He opens it up and … [Read more...]
